Do you need to ship furniture, luggage, or other personal belongings from China to Japan by sea?
Japan is located in East Asia, and its name means "Land of the Rising Sun." Its territory consists of four major islands—Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu—along with more than 7,200 small islands, covering a total area of 378,000 square kilometers. The main ethnic group is the Yamato people, the common language is Japanese, and the total population is about 126 million. Japan is a highly developed capitalist country, the world's third-largest economy, and a member of the G8. It is poor in resources and extremely dependent on imports, and its advanced manufacturing industry is the main pillar of the national economy. Its scientific research, aerospace, manufacturing, and education levels all rank among the world's top. In addition, its cultural industries, led by anime and gaming, as well as its developed tourism industry, are also important symbols.

Sea Shipping Methods
For sea shipping to Japan, in addition to conventional LCL and FCL sea shipping, Seapoe also offers the exclusively advantageous groupage (consolidated shipment) model.
Full Container Load (FCL) Sea Shipping
If you have a large amount of furniture or bulky luggage to ship to Japan and the volume reaches about 15-20 cubic meters or more, you can consider chartering a 20-foot container for sea shipping (due to the irregular shapes of furniture and luggage, a 20-foot container can generally hold at most 25-26 cubic meters of furniture-type items).
Common containers include 20-foot containers, 40-foot containers, and 40-foot high-cube containers. The main difference lies in the volume they can hold, and the price increases accordingly.
Less than Container Load (LCL) Sea Shipping
If your items are less than 15 cubic meters, considering cost factors, you can consider LCL shipping. In a narrow sense, or in this article, LCL shipping means that when booking sea freight, your cargo is directly assigned by the shipping company in LCL form to a certain container, and the cargo in this container is jointly owned by different shippers.
In a broad sense, the groupage mentioned below can actually also be regarded as a type of LCL, so sometimes the difference between LCL and groupage is not strictly distinguished.
Groupage (Consolidated Shipment)
Groupage can be regarded as a type of LCL. The key to groupage is that all cargo in the groupage container is owned by Seapoe's customers. On the one hand, this reduces costs and saves customers freight charges; on the other hand, the entire container's cargo is coordinated by Seapoe, maximizing the safety of customers' items.
Because the items are shipped to Japan by LCL together with other Seapoe customers, based on communication between both parties, it is necessary to wait for customer service staff to arrange the plan and consolidate the shipment.
